Templars Tennis Club (Templecombe Recreation Ground)
LATEST NEWS

MEMBERSHIP - At the recent AGM membership fees for 2008 were agreed. These are £55 for family membership, £35 for a single adult and £10 for juniors, unemployed or those in full time education. We have also introduced discounts for advanced payment of 2 or 3 year adult membership. A joining fee applies to new members. Templars Tennis Club is one of the most reasonably priced clubs in the district and whilst we would like more income, encouraging new membership and providing an affordable sports facility to the locality is considered very important.

COURT ILLUMINATION - Last year, with the help of the Parish Council, an electric power cable was laid from the recreation ground changing rooms across to the courts. In December we were fortunate to obtain a set of court lights at an affordable price, but now we need funds and help to install them and connect everything up. We are encouraging new members to join and existing members to renew as soon as possible as part of a drive to raise the necessary funds. We are also looking at other ways of raising funds. Court illuminations will enable the club to continue playing in the evenings long after sunset and will significantly extend the playing season, weather permitting, of course.
CLUB EVENINGS - These are held every Wednesday evening and this year will commence in April when the evenings become lighter. Hopefully, with the lighting project, this will be the last year we have to wait until April to start club evenings. Members may also use the courts any other time throughout the year except when League matches are played.

LEAGUE MATCHES - We were very successful in the Shaftesbury Tennis League in the 2007 season and will be entering teams in the league again this year. Home matches are usually played on Monday or Tuesday evenings.

JUNIOR COACHING - During the school holidays the club hopes to organise professional coaching for local children. This was very successful last year and as soon as we have agreed arrangements with the tennis coach we will publicise the details on this web site and around the village.

For membership details or for further information about the club please call Paul Hawkins on 370045.
